Biography

Dr. David Côté completed his medical school and residency training at the University of Alberta. Prior to enrolling in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck surgery training, he completed a post-graduate residency in Family Medicine and practiced rural family medicine in Alberta, Ontario and the Northwest Territories and is double certified by the Canadian College of Family Physicians as well as the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He also completed a Master’s Degree in Public Health with focus on clinical outcomes methods from Harvard University in 2005 concentrating on clinical research methods.

Following his surgical training in Canada, Dr. Côté did an additional fellowship year in France under Professors Bernard Devauchelle and Sylvie Testelin focussing on reconstructive and esthetic facial and nasal surgery. In addition, he spent time at the Royal Throat, Nose and Ear Infirmary in London, England, acquiring further skills in treating sinonasal disease and advanced treatment of Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangectasias (HHT).

Dr. Côté was recruited back to the University of Alberta in 2011 and is an Assistant Professor with the Department of Surgery, Division of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery. He has published extensively with over 20 peer-reviewed journal articles and an invited book chapter on endoscopic sinus surgery outcomes.  He was a recipient of the Shirley Baron Research Award in 2010 from the Triological Society. His research interests include improving outcomes for patients with chronic sino-nasal disease as well as reconstructive nasal and facial surgery. Dr. Côté is also very active with humanitarian work, organizing and participating in annual surgical missions to Ecuador.
